A Day in a Life - WWPW 2010 (Video)

By Louis Trapani - Posted on 01 August 2010

If you read my previous post, Photo Walking 2010… Officially you will know that I took part once again in this year's Worldwide Photo Walk (WWPW). It took place on Saturday, the 24th of July 2010, the same day that YouTube was soliciting videos shot on that very day for their Life in a Day project. With the material sourced from these video submissions, director Kevin Macdonald will edit select footage to create a documentary movie executive produced by famed director Ridley Scott to be shown at the Sundance film festival in January.

Since it coincided with the 3rd annual Scott Kelby's WWPW, I figured I would shoot some video that same very day to document the day. It was more of an afterthought though as my main purpose that day was shooting still images for the WWPW. As a result, certain criteria for the Life in a Day project I failed to meet (i.e., expressing my fears, showing what was in my pocket, and other points). It was also only upon submission that I learned that it should not contain any music. It doesn't really matter, I did it for the fun of doing it really.

Well, what follows below is the video I quickly edited Saturday night, the last day for the submission using iMovie. All the video was shot on my iPhone (the better quality coming from the back camera, while the video of myself talking to the camera is using the lower quality front facing camera). I recommend watching in HD if possible.

You used the iPhone for the video - what camera did you use for the photos? They're gorgeous!

Most of the photos were shot with a Nikon D50, but there were a few in there that were shot using the Apple iPhone 4.

If you visit the Flickr set of photos I shot on the photo walk, it will indicate what was used for each photo.
